About The Artwork

This mechanical lamp is made with a recycled classic bicycle frame, chainwheel and fork beyond repair. All moving parts as bearings, headset and freewheel are also recycled and it is PAT tested. I construct my lamps using a torch with the brass brazing technique I use to build or repair classic steel bikes .The steel has a brown copper pattina. For the base I used a piece of oak. All my lamps are made to use small edison bulbs with led fillament to prevent the heat of building up and preserving all the pattina and final varnish. It comes with english plug and a 3 Amp resistance. The base is reclaimed oak and has 7 bevelled irregular sides.

Beauty can not be separated from the tapestry of daily life. In some cultures art was produced by artisans and was enjoyed in everyday use. Like the geometric patterns on a carpet or a poem made to be passed on beauty came naturally from the inner purpose they fulfill. Skulls and classic bicycles are some of this objects that can irradiate within their structure atractive lines to the human eye. I would define my work as creating symbols with this upcycled items I find in the streets of Bristol or foraging in the forest of the South West and Wales.
