About The Artwork

This is portrait of a charming little toddler called Zora. When a friend of mine saw the sculpture, she exclaimed: If Emil form Lonneberga was a girl, he would look like Zora.

I am ceramic artist from Bulgaria. I used to make sculptures from sand and snow while growing up and started working with clay recently. This was a new beginning in my life. I brought a love of nature and the histories of ancient Bulgaria as well my fascination with clay technique and craft. My design and craft sources include modern potters of Southern Bulgaria and artifacts of the Thracians. As well as pottery I have a strong interest in portrait sculpture. To support that work I recently attended a master class of the Society of Portrait Sculptors, UK, with Etienne Millner. My studio lies at 800 meters (just over a half mile above sea level) amid the Rhodope Mountains' Chepino Valley. There, in my small studio, I have an electric kiln as well as virtually everything I need to make ceramic and sculpture work. In my free time, except modeling clay, I teach children to unleash their imagination when obtaining technical skills with clay.
