In. On. Under. Me. There is a saying in Croatia “U se, na se, poda se” and it literally means “In, on, under myself” It is something like a hedonistic principle by which it seems that satisfying our basic needs; what to eat, what to wear and how to please or impress our partners or others, disregarding any intellectual or spiritual growth or development is enough. By following only those principals we are getting so much further from the bigger picture, from comprehending spiritual and perceiving our surroundings. Although it can be pleasing to enjoy good food, look good…, I feel we should not keep developing only physical achievements but pursue spiritual as well. Thru depicting different transformations, objects from this series are intending to enlighten spectator to think, to reevaluate those priorities. These objects are made to make a likeable mood, brightly colored, yellowy tones, same visual language used by food advertising all around us in order to attract one to think of food, to induce hunger. Just in this case, there is no possibility of satisfying urge for eating. Burger and hot dog whose main content contains distorted humanoid forms are made out of plastic and placed under glass bell jars. And although they are made out of plastic, they keep a high priority, they are kept safe, thus implying importance food bear us and these unbalanced standards we made. This series is a work in progress still, composed out of different objects (all made out of artificial materials, depicting different needs), creating a wholesome space I imagined it to set a mood in which viewer feels safe, amused at first and just after a second glance faced with the real intent.
