ABOUT THE ARTWORK

This copper sculpture is made with copper sheets that are welded, ground, sandblasted, folded, chiseled and repousse. The colors are the result of an oxidation on the copper produced by the flame of my torch. The sculpture is then finished by the application of several layers of polyurethane for copper. The base is plywood covered with a flame painted folded copper sheet. The post is in steel. Originally there was only to be the headdress, but when I finished it, I felt that something was missing, that the sculpture was not finished. I made a sketch on cardboard of a face that could look like an Indian face and I realized that this sculpture was missing. The face is made from a sheet of copper that has been hammered, chiseled, and repoussé.
