The Mystery of the Flying Kicks wall sculptures are a new take on shoe tossing. This particular sculpture shows the Jordan 11 with its shoe laces as a design element in a street art graffiti form with metal fence elements. Taking my images from canvas to carved wood is me as an artist evolving through experimentation, thought, planning and new means of story telling. I hope viewers appreciate the detail in the work in everything from the shoes, to the metal fence, to the die cut hand carved laces and even the natural glow against the gallery wall.

Born in the Bronx New York, Rapheal was raised in a household that strongly believed in the importance of the arts and education. He was influenced by his mother who was an illustrator and his father, a painter, and grandparents who would take him on frequent visits to the NYC art museums. When he was only 5 years old, he was introduced to his first collector when he was offered money for a drawing. These early influences and events lead him to organize and start his middle and high-school art club, open a boutique clothing store, and travel to art shows by the time he was in high school. After receiving his Bachelor of Fine Arts from the School of Visual Arts in 2007, he began to work as a graphic artist and animator for a major media network in Times Square. After numerous years in the media field, Rapheal relocated to Dallas, Texas where he began his career as a painter in 2014 and went full-time in 2017. Rapheal is an avid contributor to the art community both in and out of Texas. Supports his fellow peers, organizing and hosting charitable art events along with gallery exhibitions, participating in art fairs, connecting collectors to fellow artists, and with the installation of murals around the Dallas Fort Worth Area. Working as a full-time painter out of the Tin District Studios in West Dallas, Rapheal has completely submerged himself in his art career. A committed daily routine allows him to create exciting new cohesive and nostalgic series of work along with providing a way of living off of his artwork.
