About The Artwork
This sculpture, a sure conversation piece, presents a puzzle: are the men jumping through hoops on the ladies’ orders, or are the ladies acting on the orders of the men by accommodating their strange male ritual of holding aloft the hoops. Or is this practice something which they enjoy doing together? Technically, the sculpture is cast from aluminum; mostly from melted–down storm windows and screens. It is double, this is to say, it is two casts deep; i.e. the front cast is set 6 inches in front of a second imperfect cast. The double sculpture is bolted to a 4 ‘ high base made of 2x4x” and covered with dark green plastic lattice.
