Sculpture, 3d Print on Sls Polished White Nylon
Size: 1 W x 1.1 H x 9.4 D in
Ships in a Tube
This truly unique figurine, inspired by Hans Holbein the Younger’s iconic, enigmatic and controversial painting The Ambassadors, has been carefully sculpted and transformed in 3D Computer-aided design software by a highly skilled artist and product designer. Holbein’s skull has been ‘brought to life’ as a beautiful piece of 3D art. Inspired by the strange object that appears to float between his portraits of Jean de Dinteville and Georges de Selve, this figurine is your very own piece of art. “Holbein’s skull can be ‘brought to life’ as a 3D printed sculpture, reigniting the age-old ‘paragone’ debate by making the ‘impossible’ physical.” Peter Crack Ph.D For more information about the artwork visit: JUST ANOTHER VANITAS

andymccafferty.net “We are all invited to participate in the experiment.” I explore ways to experience ‘objects’ in relation to how we perceive them. I make ‘looking’ active rather than reactive, showing different viewpoints. An important perspective I examine is ‘frequency’ – using computers to extract information from inside and outside of the body. This information is translated into a poetic experience of patterns, sounds, and imagery. I create digital paintings, sculptures, installations, stereographic animations, and real-time interactive compositions as ways to investigate underlying mind and body processes. This site highlights an ongoing series of contemporary digital paintings made by the creation of images from sound, and a 3D printed sculpture of an impossible object from an iconic 16th century painting, designed and carefully transformed using CAD software.
