About The Artwork
Inspired by Rodin's passionate late Romanticism and Brancusi's cutting-edge modernism with a hint of Henry Moore, I hope that viewers will be motivated to want to touch my sculptures. If they do, I have been successful. I chose hand cast marble and bronze because these mediums allow me to produce a finish limited number of the same pieces in mediums that encourage "touching". Why I have chosen the female figure is pretty obvious. Their beauty and grace. My cast marble pieces, when lit properly take on a translucency revealing the hidden shadows and graceful curves of an elegant arm, a graceful neck and back, or a subtle calf leading to the turn of a beautiful ankle and foot. Another reason for choosing hand cast marble is how easy it is to maintain. It will not stain or change color like traditional marble or stone that will absorb the oils from our hands.
