Sculpture: Clay, Bronze, Metal on Bronze, Other.
This work is fully designed and very close to completion in it’s clay form.
In bronze, it’s form will remain the same but it will have an entirely new color and be completely impervious to weather conditions.
This work was designed to look excellent from any angle and I believe it does.
I sculpted this piece with the intention of riding the line between figurative and modern styles. I consider it a success in this endeavor.
The search for knowledge and the achievement of higher understanding are both concepts well defined in this work. While the sculpture is a clear image, it also offers the viewer a chance interpret and exchange ideas while observing the piece. This is a valuable trait in any piece of public art.
Structurally, cast bronze is extremely strong and this piece takes advantage of that strength with the majority of the work not touching the ground. I feel this gives the work a sense of motion and the illusion of precarious balance.
