About The Artwork

Lucite sculpture made gluing together layers of colored and clear lucite (PMMA) then shaped into a big pencil going through a clear lucite parchment to point the middle of the famous Alessandro Manzoni book ' The Betrothed'. The whole structure seems to be on an instable equilibrium. A heavy, shiny, imponent pencil, held by one of the symbol of italian litterary culture, seems about to fall as the Pisa tower. Symbol of the nowadays culture: a lot of lights, a lot of noice, a lot of shiny presence, but no longer good and stable foundations.
