About The Artwork
This is "María Bárbola" that composes the painting of Las Meninas by Velázquez and my interpretation is the following: María Bárbola entered the palace service the year the Infanta was born and accompanied the Infanta constantly in her entourage. She is the dwarf we see on the right side of the canvas. I imagined Maria's life difficult, full of ridicule from the whole court, which she had to endure given her "inferior" condition. I did not want any element to stand out in the figure of this dwarf, but I preferred to highlight the simplicity of the elements that depict her status within the court.
