About The Artwork

Stainless steel assemblage construction. Composition was created and welded in a casting of my sister and my nephew. This sculpture is one of a kind. (I created a copper and leaf sculpture for my sister, who loves nature.) While the composition was designed with reference to tree imagery in my eye, the sculpture has been described to reference wings, butterflies, twigs, and industrial form. What I love about the abstraction is that while each person sees different imagery within the Mother Earth, every person immediately sees the womb and mother. Wall hanging- mounting bracket hangs over nail Very lightweight- under 5 pounds Protrudes from wall, please measure before purchasing for hallway or walkway May be exhibited interior or exterior

"My purpose in life is to help others see, feel, & heal through art". Welded Sculpture is Woodford’s passion. Her work is a dialog with organic flow, movement and scale. Woodford grew up on the East Coast in Southern Maryland, but has called the Midwest home for many years. She travels between South Carolina, Iowa, Nebraska, Dallas, and Arizona where she creates, has representation, or teaches. Traveling enables me to teach, be of service to others and broaden my views." The figurative series she creates depicts her thinking on current as well as historical matters and her perceptions from a female viewpoint. The work is inherently autobiographical while also leaving space for the viewer's interpretative dialog. Woodford's goal is to create healing sculptures that embody a sense of hope. "We are all connected. We are all the same, and could see each other as mirrors but for the smoke in-between.”
