Mind. Orangutan Sculpture

My name is Victor Mikhailov. I've been doing sculpture for many years, since my childhood, when I made toys from clay for myself and my brothers :) Since then, I had a goal to develop as an artist and later I got a higher education in this specialty. The main theme of my work is images of animals, they are for me an inexhaustible source of inspiration, their plasticity, characters and emotions, sometimes so similar to human. Animalistics is a complicated genre, but surprisingly interesting. It provides a variety of images and thus teaches us to observe and to study. Animals embody freedom. The spirit of freedom is reflected in their powerful movements and plastic. Static is not peculiar to them. A wild animal can freeze for a second, but no more than that. My task as a sculptor is to capture this fraction of a second in a dynamic composition. But at the same time nature is wise and eternal. And in this powerful dynamics, one can see monumentality, generality, resemblance to the world of human - his behavior, emotions and feelings.
