About The Artwork
Morning Archive is a 3-years on going project that shizico takes pictures of the dried dishes next to the kitchen sink every morning for a long stretch of time. Each picture is the leftover image from the night before. The empty dish tray means the absence of last night while a view of full piled up dishes hints the abundance of food and great time shared with friends or family the night before. A life story had been told from these pictures, it is a project of artist's self-portrait and diary. "Morning Archive" is dealing with the existence of being, the maintenance of one's living emotionally and physically. Each pile of dishes is the documentary sculpture of memory.
