About The Artwork

What really killed the dinosaurs? This is a long debated question, most believe it was an astroid but several other theories exist as to what may have happened to these majestic creatures. This totem tells three tales, three possibilities of what fate may have befallen the dinosaurs. Staring at the bottom up to tell a story each side telling a different tale. One side tells the tale of mass volcanic eruptions that may have occurred simultaneously, another side tells the story of an ice age that may have been the cause, and another tells a story of environmental change that led to the gradual decline and fossilization of the dinosaurs. I have been fascinated by dinosaurs ever since I was very young and feel it is a great misfortune that we are unable to experience these creatures firsthand. For that reason, I believe it is of great importance to remember and honor them through my artwork such as this.
