Narciso Sculpture

Narcissus was a young man so handsome that everyone, men and women, fell in love with him; But he did not care, in fact preferred to spend his days in solitude, hunting. Among his admirers the nymph Echo, forced to repeat the last words of what had been said; It was in fact punished by Juno because distracted by the long stories while the other nymphs, lovers of Jupiter, were hiding. When Eco tried to approach Narciso these refused it. From that day the nymph hid in the woods consumed by unrequited love, until he was just a rumor. Finally, as a lover churches refused to Nemesis to avenge him, Narciso was condemned to fall in love with his own reflection in the water. He was complaining because he could not hold her or touch her and her complaints were repeated by Eco. Once he realized the incident, Narciso let die pining unnecessarily; when the Naiads and the Dryads wanted to take his body to place it on the funeral pyre, found in its place a flower which was given its name.
