While visiting the Yucatan one year I purchased a heavy jade necklace worn by a Mayan royal woman one thousand years ago. At the time,I was working on a series entitled "Gods and Goddesses." Among my materials were these red stones that seemed to echo my necklace form. This wall sculpture is a sandstone necklace strung on a steel strip. It rests on a jewelry holder. Viewers can identify with the quiet, stillness of a native jungle, the sound of hunting horns and drums,,,the sheer weight of the beads when placed around the neck of a beautiful woman
