No Planter No plant Neutral Sculpture

I grew up in a city and constantly the reference of nature that grabbed most of my curiosity were those plants growing through a mass of concrete, the facade covered with plants or an old wall invaded by nature. Eventually I moved to different countries several times and in each new place introduced me to different perspectives , people, weather and cultures. Changing my own preconceived ideas made me question the accuracy of my interpretation teaching me the importance of approach a culture o person without a filters or bias Form this learning I wanted to create a representation of my home using an architectural element and a leaf as a representation of nature yet I wanted to challenge the composition with the title to complete the work. No planter No plant would become then a representation, an stereotype, an assumed meaning with a title that challenges the preconceived notion. There is a distance between what it appears to be and what actually is and to point out that words and openness are still important, they are a vehicle that will help you to question the accuracy of your interpretation. The inspiration was base on the experience of moving constantly to diverse countries, which provided me with a diverse background dosed with contrasting cultures. Over the years, contemplating Mexican, Swedish, Finnish, Brazilian and American cultures, taught me to question my own perceptions of life and beliefs. At the end it transcends any cultural cliché and becomes ‘human’.
