Antonio Yesa, sculptor, born in Arcos de la Frontera (Cádiz), began his artistic career in the mid-eighties performing various solo and group exhibitions both very different nature: painting, manipulation of objects, performances, etc. in an attempt to find their own expressive language. It is in this first period and thanks to the manipulation of objects, a new interest appears in its creation as a medium in which finds all the factors that allow you to communicate with viewers, initiating the way how its broadest sense studying key authors in the history of sculpture, which feels indebted: Julio Gonzalez, Oteiza, Serra ... Therefore, his first sculptures made of recycled materials contain a strong lyrical in its formal aspect while are provided with an intimate message becomes universal. All works dated to the late eighties are proof of this, they are small works, made of threadlike elements and plans, looking empty and drawing in the air, examples like "The Arch Set", "The Steps Caracol "and others. It is in 1992, on the occasion of the Universal Exposition in Seville and from a commission from the Andalusian - "The End of Appearance", currently in the Andalusian Centre of Contemporary Art - a dimensional change occurs, a new approach to the work. This promotes the small format conceived so that, despite its size, causes the interaction with viewers urging him to change the perception of their actual measurements, in order to penetrate or they could be live. Success in this way is reflected in the award of the Picasso Grant for Plastic Arts in 1995, which allows you to view an exhibition - "Environments Penetrated" - that the contribution of Yesa in terms of form becomes more radical, yet preserving speech earlier works. Here we find: "Tribunal", "The Broken Thread of Ariadna", "Stele Garden For a Millionaire" etc. n this second season, breaking the minimum dimensions leads him to conceive their works as monumental allowing, once assimilated the relationship between them and the creator are presented as achievable on a different scale. This is picked up by several national institutions that handle multiple creations for their cities.
