ABOUT THE ARTWORK
The steel mesh I work in has itself been the origin of many of my concepts. I strive to create works that show off the innate attributes of this translucent medium. In the case of “Orb, there ha been a feature of mesh that has long fascinated me, and I decided to test out an idea. Just a sphere, created by joining two squares, formed into hemispheres. The negative space between them seemed empty, so I added depth with forms like the cuffs of a shits sleeve. I am now working on a larger Orb with an inner sphere joined by these “cuffs” to an outer sphere.
