About The Artwork

"Now I know that, if I have to go in search of happiness again, I will not look for it any further than my own home: because, if I don't find it there, it means that I will never be able to find it." Dorothy - "The Wizard of Oz" Oz, the tornado that transports Dorothy from Kansas to a strange and disturbing world, is a tribute to "The Wizard of Oz", a 1939 film directed by Victor Fleming, inspired by the 1900 novel "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz" by the American writer L. Frank Baum. Desire is the main theme of the work. What is the meaning of wishes? What drives you to desire things? Throughout the story Dorothy meets several characters, a lion, a scarecrow and a tin man. Together they decide to go to the Wizard of Oz to ask him to grant their wishes. The magician will turn out to be an impostor, he will easily be able to deceive Dorothy's new friends that he has granted their wishes because they already had what they wanted. Dorothy's desire, however, is real, she wants to return home to Kansas. To achieve it she will have to undertake a journey that will test her and require sacrifices. In the end, desire is a path of self-discovery. In this work we experimented with newspaper for the first time, which represents the swirls and shades of clouds. The glass, covered with a thin layer of resin, creates a shiny/opaque contrast. As in the film we go from a black and white world to a world full of colours, particularly the colors of the Emerald City. The glass parts are also slightly phosphorescent so the emerald effect can be seen even in the dark.

Delivery Time:Typically 5-7 business days for domestic shipments, 10-14 business days for international shipments.

We are Federica Venier and Federico Grande, a couple in work and in life, self-taught sculptors since 2015. Our adventure was born almost for fun, not having much money to invest we started using low cost and recycled materials. Today's society is characterized by strong consumerism and many materials are wasted or thrown away, but we think it is important to enhance them by giving them a second life. Even with poor and waste materials you can create an extraordinary work. Our artworks are unique pieces made entirely by hand. The light interacts with them making them "alive", they change according to the time of day, the weather, the lighting and the point from which you look at it.
