French cleat hanging mechanism
From the series titled ‘Paper Aviary’, this 3dimensional mixed media wall sculpture bold and architectural. The folded-paper motif appears frozen in a state of dance. The piece is at once colorful and raw, dynamic and sculptural, geometric and playful.

The orange, pink, gold and black multi-colored paper surface was individually hand-marbled by the artist. The patterns are the result of paint floated and manipulated on the surface of water, and then transferred, one-time like a monoprint, to another surface.

A 1/4" fold casts a soft shadow across the deep black color field on a birch plywood substrate.

The piece is finished under a layer of encaustic wax. Encaustic art involves fusing heated beeswax and damar resin on the surface of the substrate. The results are a soft, barely opaque, molten surface full of nuance and character that catches the light. ⁣Care for an encaustic painting as you would any fine art painting.

Signed on the back, and ready to hang on a metal french cleat hanger, or can be framed by the collector.
