Perpetu8 (GBP800) Sculpture

My idea for an alternative study and self-representation had been on my mind many months before I conceived this Eight wall sculpture. Lesser-known artists make hay through any means possible to survive but it is seeing their craft materialize in the physical world that interests us above all else. My creativity has been marked by major success and failure so I wanted to symbolize those enduring aspects with a deceptively simple abstract form and expressionist statement of solidarity for all struggling artists. My artwork is made from recycled copper wire, a natural resource extracted from the earth which has been exploited for at least 10,000 years. Each strand of wire is conjoined and interwoven to form united circles reflecting the earth and nature through which all art flows. It is estimated that 80% of all the copper mined is still in use today. In numerology Eight symbolizes earthly power, big success or failure.....and respectively a perpetual mode of life observed by the majority of artists working towards their big break. The GBP800 cost represents the artwork's simple form of 8 and 2 zeros.
