I see my artwork as a micro-cosmos, reflecting many aspects of our actual physical world, by creating an alternate one. I see it as a form of communication that provides me with the ability to question, explore and understand myself and the society I am part of. My name is Yehudit Mizrahi, I am a female/Israeli/Yemenis /cross-disciplinary artist based in Amsterdam. I am a graduate of the VAV department of the Gerrit Rietveld Academy (Amsterdam) and have also studied at the Sonology department of the Koninklijk Conservatorium (Den Haag), Music Production at SAE (Amsterdam) and at the SNDO department of the Theatre school (Amsterdam). At the current point of my development as an artist I seek to encompass various disciplines, mediums and techniques, being in a constant search to expand my possibilities for intermingling imagery, sound and movement into one body of work. When tracing my work path, I see in perspective various phases of it's development. Departing from my own body, dancing professionally with various choreographers and dance companies, towards the work with kinetic sculptures and cross media installations. Additionally the aspect of sound has always been an important part of my work. Conducting sound schemes and compositions for separate mediums such as theatre, dance and video along with creating independent music. As a work method, I collect fragments and reconstruct memories; I utilize memorabilia, altering their original formation, re-contextualizing them along-with deploy in them symbolic and poetic content.
