Read This Get Cultured is about making art accessible. So often people are intimidated by art. By creating a piece that tells you what to do to be part of the dialogue I am inviting the viewer to participate in the discussion. Neon a material long used for signage is meant to call the attention of the viewer. A humble material used to seek attention, Read This Get Cultured is about allowing everyone to be part of the art world.

I'm inspired by artists like John Baldessari. Who used words in a very matter of factual way. I've always been interested in art and the concepts that can sometimes be tough to contemplate. In this piece I am attempting to say that art doesn't have to be intimidating or go over peoples heads. Art in many ways has been an essential part of my life. I hope to share that with everyone that reads this piece.

I want the viewer to appreciate the continued effort on my part to make more people aware and conscious of art and the message that it can bring. How it can have such and impact if you are open to understanding and participating it more. This piece is my homage to my love of art.

I choose neon because I wanted something that calls for attention. I wanted the piece to stand in the room and force the viewer to read it. As soon as you read it you are part of the dialogue. I didn't want the piece to be looked over or ignored. My style if minimalistic. I like to be very up front. I don't want to complicate things. I seek to continue to challenge how much more simplicity could be brought into my art.
