This glass scimitar is a further exploration of my endeavors into glass blades. I love hitting upon a specific shape from a region or era, embellishing them with complex glass murrine. Contained within this piece is respect for blades, historical uses, bridged to our own world through humor, entertainment, think of the movie "Kill Bill", cartoons, to everyday routine uses and implications of edged tools. Glass has been a medium for blades, spear points and arrowheads in the form of obsidian for millennia. The modern connection to our past and future is present in this blade.

United States
Artist working in glass from 1999 to present. I often collaborate with my wife Chelsea Bent, creating highly detailed glass images (murrine) for use in our marbles and sculpture. Recently I have been making unique knives, cleavers, axes and other implements to explore form and content, sculpting hot glass and carving cold glass to arrive at the intended design.
