This plant belongs to "Plants Catalogue, First Act"; a multi sensorial installation of a botanical-monocromatic garden. 33 sculptures, made in high temperature ceramic, of imaginary plants that although its image refers to the cacti and wild herbs, the result can not be found in nature. PLANT CATALOG [FIRST ACT] was developed in Aguascalientes, where I researched the wild herbs; recording the sounds and silence of the wind against them, capturing the aromatic essence of the cactus, wild flowers and grasses in glass bottles and their beauty through painting, sculpture, notes and drawings. The project approaches the unknown and the fantastic. Taking back the interpretations made years ago from the stories of explorers like Marco Polo or Alexander von Humboldt, who traveled the world discovering the new, the exotic, and which result into the illustrations and tales that constitute the imaginarium of creatures and wonders. Within that branch, botanic (study and observation of wild herbs), has always been of great interest to me. In the fifteenth century, thanks to the invention of the printing press and the appearance of paper in Europe, the first herbariums were made and in the sixteenth century the development of navigation allowed botanical expeditions resulting in the creation of the first botanical gardens.
