This work is inspired by my recent series of repetition and difference. Where I explore layers and shadows in spatial sculptures. You can also define this as a sculptural 3d painting. Based on a regular hexagonal pattern my plan was to make this static piece look dynamic. When you change perspective you can see how structure and clours are shifting. Every viewer is encourad to take his own personal favourite perspectives. The piece is supposed to state that evrything is always depeding on your personal perspective. It is supposed to question what reality is. And how modern art can change that view. That medium is choosen to bring in traditional feeling and a certain warm atmosphere. The perfect and repeating patterns are perfectly cutted (by a laser machine). The imperfection of the plywood is just the right combination for that.

Germany
Jan Weissenfeldt is a Sculptor and Designer, born 1981 in Marburg (Germany). In 2010 graduated from University of Kassel, master´s degree in architecture (Design Research). His favourite materials are wood, paper and plexi glass. Weissenfeldt´s style reflect his background in streetart, combined with a modern technological approach. Expressing love for geometry, shadows and gaps are the main focus in his recent works. By using modern production technics (as laser cutting) and combining it with classical crafts (like painting) his aim is to create a new form of contemporary art. Somewhere between perfection and human impulsivity. Perfections provided by computer and machine, will always be broken by his touch and spontaneous arrangement of pieces. Resulting in artworks that are somewhere in between perfect and human. That is a summary, as short as possible. Feel free to ask me anything.
