Ostrich eggs adorned and incised with images are an ancient artistic tradition in Africa's Southern and Eastern reaches. The oldest found ostrich eggs are dating back 90 000 - 100 000 years ago. They were decorated and used to carry water. The African tribes adorned and incised them as a form of expressing their cultural identity. The decorated ostrich eggs were seen and handled as high luxury items by ancient African tribes. This ostrich egg is carefully handmade by the Zimbabwean artist Elitana Sibanda. This piece of art is 200 mm high and 150 mm wide.

We unite talented African artists with the rest of the world through the power of their unique art. We believe that there is an abundance of under-lighted and undervalued artistic talent to find in Africa. An artist in Africa has to face an abundance of smaller problems as well as the lack of a wealthy upper class to sell to. We spread their full stories and advertise their art to the broader public through affordable prices at https://www.afroartists.org/
