About The Artwork
Rogación II (2015) is a two-piece large format sculpture made in the technique of collagraph on wood. Inspired by the rite of "Praying head", typical of the Santeria, in which is honored the guardian angel in order to bring wisdom, quiet and balance to the "head" or “eleddá” of the person concerned. An important variant of this rite used snapper fish, so the sculpture has a piece showing an anthropomorphic head with a fish on a high base with abstract elements that highlight the head as well. It is noteworthy the texture and color of the entire sculpture.
