About The Artwork
Entirely covered in drapery, we can distinguish the head of a figure with closed eyes and lips whose veiled face reveals, in its delicate features, that of a woman, Sara. With her head gently bowed to one side, Sarah, the biblical character Abraham's wife, feels the promise made to him by God of a son fulfilled in her, despite her sterility, in that exact moment, Sarah's face is covered by the divine blessing with a sweet veil, which lets the peace that pervades his soul shine through his face. The project of this sculpture "Sara" was born with the precise intention of being able to capture the psyche of the character in a veiled face, balancing everything through the element of drapery, distinguishing it into two types, a heavier one that covers the head and a lighter for the face, allowing the female features of the chosen subject to shine through harmoniously. In conceiving the sculpture I did not want to place any element in the background, but in symbiosis with each other such as: being able to make the most of the physical properties of Carrara marble, mastering the technique of the veiled face letting the features and psyche of the subject shine through, balancing the composition of the lines drawn by the drapery, working the marble by harmoniously regulating the light and dark surfaces. Sara is a marble sculpture in the round which represents a veiled head slightly bowed on the left side. The dominant element is the drapery that covers the entire head, one for the hair, with a heavy texture and one for the face, with a more detailed finish alternating well-defined folds with perfectly adherent lines on the face, this balance allows you to distinguish the physiognomy of the underlying face and let the character of the subject shine through. In the lines of the drapery, an undulating vertical trend prevails which accompanies the inclination of the head, allowing the light to reveal the surfaces exposed by the more marked darks.

La passione per l'arte di Michelangelo si manifesta fin da giovane, a 10 anni frequenta la bottega dell'artista Ezio De Rubeis (Velletri, Rm). Nel corso degli anni Michelangelo ha occasione di stringere amicizie con altri artisti, Omero Bordo, Igor Mitoraj, Giorgio Dante, Marcello Bottaro. Michelangelo, pittore autodidatta, nella scultura segue gli insegnamenti dell'artista Fulvio Merolli, laboratorio M'Arte, dove conosce anche Alessia Forconi e Reinard Pfingst. La ricerca artistica di Michelangelo si ispira allo studio dei grandi maestri del passato come: PieterPaulo Rubens, Antoon Van Dyck, Jan Van Eyck, Frans Hals, Rembrant, Michelangelo Buonarroti, Leonardo Da Vinci, Michelangelo Merisi, William-Adolphe Bouguereau, John William Waterhouse, Canova, questo si riflette nelle sue opere. L'amore per l'arte anacronistica non limita Michelangelo ad apprezzare anche le opere d'arte dalla poetica che varia dalla Pop art all' astrattismo o all' installazione ed altro ancora.
