About The Artwork
Scythians - an ancient people who lived in the steppes of the present territory of Ukraine. At the present time Scythian barrows have been preserved and many stone sculptures were found in the form of a Scythian warrior. Three-four objects are depicted on Scythian statues: a horn, a lit, a dagger or a sword. The horn is placed in the right hand at the chest level, lit - on the left side, a dagger or sword - in the left hand at the level of the belt. I was born in 1965 and sculpted and fired my first work back when I was a child. Powerful Ukrainian traditions of working with clay were not lost. Today I continue to preserve the old technologies, combining them with new motifs. In 2012 I’ve built a firing kiln and this has been an invaluable addition to my workshop. The energy and creative power of living flame fascinates me. I work with clay, wood and stone, speaking the language of the symbols of humanity Besides passion for ceramics, I have some others: painting, murals, rope jumping. My works can be found in private collections in Ukraine, Denmark, Austria, Germany, USA and Russia. Among them are interior sculptures, garden and park sculptures, souvenirs, jewelry, amulets, earthenware, stoneware, works of Scythian and Polovtsian themes.
