About The Artwork
The Semaphore series features figures spelling abbreviations connected to the various political organisations or terms & using coded signalisation language. Semaphore WHO (World Health Organisation) figures are mounted on found wood and are constructed from handmade paper pulp – the ‘debris’ of my daily life : newspaper, tobacco, tea leaves, coffee grounds, wood shavings, office paper, junk mail etc.
