Serendipity was designed to show a graceful movement as if the sculpture is dancing as you engage and see it from different angles. The maquette was built to scale a 50ft version for a City or corporate structure to serve as a landmark and point of destination that will be significant for the community and its economic impact. I was born and raised in Little Rock, Arkansas sculpting in stainless steel since 2002. After studying Fine Art at the University of Arkansas in Little Rock, I began a career combining water fountains and outdoor sculpture into the landscaped environment. I currently have a studio home in Scottsdale, AZ while also living part-time in Grand Rapids, Michigan where I maintain a studio and my own gallery. I work primarily in Type-316L non-corrosive stainless steel with its enduring properties. I started working with aluminum and bronze early in my career, but I really like the reflective qualities of high-grade stainless steel. The finish is highly polished to create a contrast between existence and illusion as my main concept is the reflection of the outside world on the artwork. My creative process starts from a blank canvas in my brain with an idea that is captured in a 2-D sketch, then transferred to stainless steel to be moulded in clay for casting, but sometimes it is also free-form. My mission is to share the gift of inspiration through reflection with the passion for stainless steel and desires to build sculpture that will last for many generations to come.
