When their rings are ash where will we find the knowledge, they kept? When the land is bare, how will they whisper the secrets of the ages? Blackened epitaphs to the animals that roamed beneath them A cemetery of nature now stands where once there was life. As I passed blackened landscapes ravaged by fire I cried. Where once colonies of trees stood there was nothing but blackened epitaphs to what once stood proud. Trees playing host to animals, insects and other botanical life. Now scene after scene of devastation Trees are vessels of the earth. They are botanical containers of their time on this planet. Their rings marking time and weather patterns. Now they are gone. Decimated by fire. This work is a dedication to the 2019/20 bushfires which decimated vast tracts of land in NSW, Australia.
