ABOUT THE ARTWORK
A remarkable piece entirely from black soft granite by artist V. Sompura. This piece shows Buddha sitting in the lotus posture in Dhyana mudra ( meditation gesture). This is a notable mudra practised by yogis during meditation, where one palm of a hand is place on top of another, in the centre above the knees. The gesture eases mediation and helps concentration, it symbolises perfect balance of energies within ourselves. The granite has been polished all exception of Buddha head and robe. These details been left with a rough, matte finish giving Buddha a distinct appearance. The robe also has unique pattern on itselt. It would be the perfect centre piece of a living room, home entrance or even outdoor on your balcony. Artist - V.Sompura (Gujarat, India) V. Sompura signature style lies in his ability to work with white marble. He is often inspired by images of Buddha, but also works around more modern and abstract ideas for his sculptures. PS: With all hand made stone and wood sculptures, there might be some natural erosion with cracks and spots, but that adds to the one of kind pieces that we sell here at Mystik River.
