Sculpture, Wood on Wood
Size: 17 W x 29 H x 5.5 D in
This piece exemplifies the glory of an African face mask. It is made from Young Mahogany wood and given a headdress of Old Mahogany spikes…It is 17 W x 29 H x 5.5 Inspiration for this piece comes from observing the rich heritage of the native people living on the African continent. he manifestation of a vision brought to life. This vision is a combination of the spirit force, a conversation with the medium, and my humble tools. I would like viewers to appreciate not only what the wood has become but the actual wood used in my work. They are mostly hardwood, slow growth, and they are some of the most expensive and endangered wood in the world. Each piece cannot be reproduced because each piece has its own story.

Trinidad and Tobago
I am a wood sculptor, costume designer, master wire-bender, costume designer, author, president of Swami designs workshop, and founder of the Old-Wood Preservation Art Gallery in Trinidad. I was born in Trinidad and later migrated and lived for over 34 years in America. There I joined the U.S. Army and served as H.R.E.O. (Human Rights Equal Opportunity) representative for A Company First and the Eight Infantry division. I received several army letters of recommendation. As a boy growing up, I was always of the belief that people were seeing and feeling about art the way I did, and still do more than ever. However, as I grew older, I realized that I was different. The most rewarding aspect of creating art for me is to see the manifestation of a vision brought to life. This vision is a combination of the spirit force, a conversation with the medium, and my humble tools. The reason my art is unique is because of the types of wood in my collection. They are mostly hardwood, slow growth, and they are some of the most expensive and endangered wood in the world. Each piece cannot be reproduced because each piece has its own story.
