About The Artwork

The « Superman booster seat » sculpture is made out of a child booster seat painted with spray can and acrylic paint. The piece is playing on the image of the strong Superman character and the idea of recycling a booster seat that evoques chilhood and fragility. As usual with Lucan artist we have the use of recycled car parts.

Artist Lucan chose his name in reference to the imfamous police investigation which involved Richard John Bingham, 7th Earl of Lucan (Lord Lucan) who disappeared on November 7, 1974 following the (still unsolved) murder of his children's nanny, Sandra Rivett. Lucan's art is akin to graffiti but his approach is more complete and elaborate. Lucan prefers to work on ready-made supports rather than on traditional supports. Objects are most often collected from public dumps (car doors, etc...) which are then reworked in the tradition of pointillism borrowed from the neo-impressionist movement.
