Buddy Holly (bürgerlich Charles Hardin Holley, * 7. September 1936 in Lubbock, Texas, USA; † 3. Februar 1959 bei Mason City, Iowa) war ein US-amerikanischer Rock-’n’-Roll-Musiker und -Komponist. Zu seinen bekanntesten Songs gehören That’ll Be The Day, Peggy Sue, Oh Boy! und It Doesn’t Matter Anymore. Am 3. Februar 1959 kamen Holly, Valens und The Big Bopper auf dem Weg zu ihrem nächsten Auftritt in Moorhead bei einem Flugzeugabsturz – vermutlich aufgrund eines Instrumentenablesefehlers des Piloten – in der Nähe von Mason City ums Leben. Dieser Unfall, bei dem alle Insassen des Kleinflugzeugs starben, ging als „The Day the Music Died“ in die Geschichte ein; Don McLean setzte diesem Tag in seinem Lied American Pie ein Denkmal. Die beim Absturz verstreuten Habseligkeiten, darunter Hollys blutige Brille, wurden von der Bundespolizei gesammelt, um die Absturzursache zu klären. Sie gerieten in Vergessenheit und wurden den Familien der Absturzopfer erst Jahre später übergeben. Die laufende Tournee wurde von Jimmy Clanton und Frankie Avalon beendet. Holly wurde vier Tage später in seiner Heimatstadt begraben. Am 24. April 1959 erreichte er mit It Doesn’t Matter Anymore die Spitze der britischen Charts und verblieb dort für 3 Wochen. 1986 wurde Holly posthum in die „Rock and Roll Hall of Fame“ aufgenommen.

Some different cameos in film business and numerous exhibitions with his recycling art in ollivinistic style do the rest to form the person and artist Olaf Berger people know today... but the end of his personal history seems still out of sight.
