About The Artwork

This stone looks like clay but is deceiving as it has a very hard consistency. In this work the sculptor has tried to capture the awkward twisting of the head and looking up in total shock towards the twin towers as the planes crash Whilst carving the stone he discovered that elements of marble and granite had melted together into the volcanic stone which to him symbolised the intense heat that was created on that terrible day. Again, listening to the stone, he discovered 'The Mind's Eye' which is portrayed by a camera lens capturing the horror and devastation for eternity. Just one look and that devastating scene is captured forever more in 'The Mind's Eye'. Trapped and unable to be blotted out. The face itself is international as the event touched the lives of the whole world, regardless of colour, race or creed. Nobody escaped the horror. Finally the two black tears falling from the eye depicts the twin towers crashing to the ground. How many times have you heard it said that nothing will ever be the same again!
