The patron is one of my most "brittle" characters to date. For a long time, the head and her being was there and recognized before she allowed me to tell her story. Accustomed to publicity, she is yet incredibly shy inside. In her sensibility, her heart presents itself like a mouse in a cocktail glass. Her puppet-like greeting to all sides, for example, at an obligatory cultural event, is manifested by the string on her neck that actually makes the character's head make a small movement of nodding. In all these figures I have also given space to the play element. I like the idea of giving an additional pleasure to a possible collector when he/she can, for example, show the figure to guests and demonstrate the unexpected mobility. How many conversations can then entwine around the figure! Let's let Gerold Tusch have his say here once again: "The figures consist of a head - a face - with eyes that look at us - that's what we notice first. The second part of these beings, their body, is constituted by deliberately chosen elements: they are "all dress", cocktail glass, flower pot, only hand and foot or egg sewn into pinstripe plump.Every detail becomes a cryptic carrier of meaning, meaningfully readable. In the making, these things, materials and accessories often find each other rather by intuition in the working process - to the figure. They are tried and discarded and in the end, with attention to every detail, add to the multi-layered meaning of the figures. Thus the body abstracts and detaches itself from its actual form, dissolves into symbolic information. This is how these creatures move away from the cliché." You'll find her story in the book Living People, which I am happy to send to you, there are a few copies left in my studio.Just mail to: info@susanna-andreini.at
