About The Artwork

The Ram represents fiery and creative energy of pure Red, the fountain of raw power. A ram here is a metaphor of raw potency, irresistible force that ignores any obstacles. The composition embodies the sound, the music, the chord. It was influenced by my interest in ancient myths and fierce gods and powers of antiquity, and also by abstract expressionism - particularly vibrant red fields of Rothko and zip lined monochromes of Barnett Newman. The lines are impacted by my fascination with structures. Particularly with art and philosophy of Piet Mondriaan and this diagonal was influenced by his diamond tape "paintings", Here it represents the union and balance of verticals and horizontals all together - summarized. The vertical zip line here is a "rib", a pillar, a "support" of a composition. The shape of the work is made of artistic synthetic clay supported by wire armature. The figure is textured with a paste to emphasize dynamics and motion. The whole artwork is painted with high quality pigmented acrylics.

I do like exploring global and fundamental concepts of existence and their manifestation in our present being. I am inspired by philosophy, metaphysics, human history and culture. I'm also interested in our new way of reality such as the new digital reality and it's relation and interaction with our physical reality. The virtual reality is becoming more and more real and there is a parallel with Eastern philosophies' consept of Maya, the illusion of this world. I am fascinated with the idea of subconscious effect of the art and I like exploring the ways of the impact. As of now I tend to minimalistic forms of expression, reducing the artworks to basic shapes and colors. I am inspired by really different forms of art and culture of various styles and times. But as of now one of my major sources of inspiration is abstract art of the beginning of the 20th century - Kandinsky, Hilma af Klint, Malevich, Piet Mondriaan, Paul Klee, Franz Marc. And abstract expressionism artists - Mark Rothko, Barnett Newman, Cy Twombly, Lee Krasner.
