The Shroud - detail shows the folds, tucks, etc. that relate to the overall work that is created from research relating to the African American community who lived in Rockville, MD during the 1800s. Some of the slaves had to go in disguise to escape their slave holders. This work has been created in response to the history and hence the piece is like a covering over a form. The wire mess fabric is creased to form folds that are then secured with stitches to secure the tucks and form a design that has a flowing appearance.
