My name is Valeria Boitsova. I live in Saint-Petersburg, Russia. This city inspires me thanks to its exciting architecture and, on the other hand, it takes inspiration away, because it's dark, gloomy, windy and it rains a lot. I spent my childhood in sunny Ukraine, it was a wonderful time, and that experience and the weather contrast had an immense impact on me and my works. I've been painting, taking photos, and doing ceramics since my childhood, but only last year I recognize that I want to connect my life with it, and now I'm a full-time artist. I'm a self-taught mixed media and ceramic artist. Art for me is a part of my life, is my treatment, my way to struggle with depression and anxiety. It helps me to express my feelings, thoughts, ideas and gives me a positive mood. I create my artworks with acrylics, soft and oil pastels, oil, watercolor, gesso, and gouache on paper, wood, and canvas. I love different techniques and experimenting with materials and styles. I often use the sgraffito technique, contrast lines, texture, and multilayer painting. My art process is intuitive, I can't foresee what a completed artwork will be like, but I know it will contain a part of my heart. I often use bright colors in my work, but at the same time, throughout the artworks can be seen the theme of emptiness, loneliness, and loss. No matter what it depicts: still-life with bright kumquats, or a landscape with an old house with a broken fence, field of dry grass, photo of an old church, or a bright peony framed by a dark line that adds contrast and expression. The meaning of my artworks is open to interpretation, allows the viewer to discover it for themselves and read between the lines. The painting will be carefully packed and protected with packing materials and cardboard, and you will receive the package without damages. Thanks for reading!
