This Side Up Sculpture

"This Side Up" was chosen by the curator of a major exhibition in 2010 when it was four newly welded, unpainted components scattered about the studio. A large square wall just inside the gallery entrance needed something big and bold to hold the space, thus the bright colors and epic scale. Each of the four components are approximately 4 feet square and made of 15" diameter aluminum pipe. Multiple coats of polished industrial enamel give each section an almost glass like quality, leading many viewers to assume the piece was actually made of glass. Each square has four spacer mount brackets on the back that "float" the work slightly off the wall surface. The piece should be installed by a proffessional art installer as each component, although made of aluminum,is heavy and awkward to handle.
