About The Artwork

This contemporary sculpture is a part of the general composition consisting of five objects. The structure of the column: the column standing on four golden bulls is divided into equal squares, each square has a relief depicting symbolic figures taken from the rock paintings of the first people on different continents. Images are made low relief with silvering. On the foreground of each square there is a symbol, made of rusty metal, of one of the religious beliefs. The range is from the most ancient signs and symbols of Zoroastrianism to the Baha'i and Communist Party signs and symbols. It is clear that considering the existing over 150 religious beliefs in the world, the author could not accommodate all symbols and images. In those 20 characters placed by the sculptor we can see his current attitude to religious beliefs. The upper part of the column is free of symbols as the sculptor reflects and shares with the audience his thoughts on the possibility of further development of society as a whole. This sculpture in real size should have a height of 460 cm. The current column is made as a sketch to go to the next size. The author sees it as a landscape or park sculpture.

I was born in Moscow in 1973 to a family of artistic background: architects, painters, artists. Sculpture has been my passion for a long time now, I have created over 100 works, including a series of monumental images of famous historical people. In my art I try to analyze the category of beautiful, using deep philosophical interpretation of reality and a critical attitude towards myself and my art works. I believe that hard work and experiments with genres, stylistics, plastic arts, shape and material, are the skills of an artist. Despite the diversity of the techniques I apply, I try to make my art works full of adherence to classical art values. As for my main trend, I think it can be described as conceptual realism.
