Tree with Caged Bird Sculpture

This picture is a scene from a video . The bird and tree were inspired by the caged bird in the story of ' the Nightingale ' by Hans Christian Anderson . At the start of the project there was just a bird in a cage . The finished costume, including the branches, is around 15ft tall . The tree itself is made with velvets , silks & lace . Lichens are made with lace dipped in paint . The branches are made with florists' twigs wrapped in silk ribbon . All the leaves including ivy are hand-made, and the flowers embroidered . The bird glove puppet is embroidered and beaded . The cage is made with discarded electricians' wire . Both the bird and the tree costume are currently involved in a video production .
