When I was a boy in Independence, Missouri, when ever I heard the roar of aircraft engines, I would race out into the yard to identify the airliners going over, Constellations, DC-3s, and later, 707s, 727s, private aircraft, and every once in a while, US Air Force and Navy aircraft. It was the most glamorous age for air travel, and I dreamed of flying to exotic destinations. I've been married to a United Airlines Flight Attendant for 30 years. Needless to say, the romance of flight is very much alive for us. I particularly liked the Boeing 727 rendered in on the plaque, and of course, I admire the special kind of ladies who make their living working on zooming aircraft. Folks may take them for granted, but I have a special regard for them...one in particular...... I hope you are stirred by the excitement of travel, the never before seen destinations and appreciating the competent people taking them there. I chose the medium of molded plaster or concrete because I believe that anyone should be able to buy and collect signed, limited editions . Making the plaques is not unlike the clay-to-bronze process. I create the piece first in clay. It is then molded and the plaster or concrete is poured. Each piece is hand painted to make it one of a kind.

I grew up in Kansas City, Missouri, heavily influenced by the Art Deco and Neo-classical style buildings and the many outdoor sculptures that adorn the city, and the life and activities around the Kansas City Art Institute, the Nelson Gallery and one artist in particular, Thomas Hart Benton. Oh, yes, and my large, artistic, chatty and wonderful family.
