WORK HARD Sculpture

The artistic practice that I embrace are drawing from the traditions of the Ready-made. I decontextualized every day objects, and assigned a new artistic meaning, by mimicking the original object in a conceptual key. In the case of the WORK HARD sculpture, the blade of the ax its made out of beeswax, natural material, that the bees use it for the construction of honey combs. The relation with the Ax-object, is from the perspective of its every day use, as is the wax in the beehive. The blue color of the handle has a more history-related meaning, the purchase and processing of the lapis lazuli stone, to obtained the ultramarine pigment, which has a long and time consuming process.
