About The Artwork
This sculpture, like all other works in my Magical Zoo series, is inspired by a unique and beautiful species of animals and is made of up-cycled materials and varnish glue. I chose this medium because of its environmental sustainability. Warp is inspired by Lechwe, an antelope of South Central Africa. Lechwe live in the wetlands and use the terrain to protect themselves from predators. The surface of their legs contains a water-repellent substance, which allows them to run knee-deep in water at great speeds. A number of species of lechwe are endangered.
